Social Sushi Detroit started as a networking popup in 2012 and connected people of different backgrounds and social segments together around sushi. Through it's success as a networking event, the team grew Social Sushi into a social catering experience providing marketing services and a built in audience to catered events. With community at it's core, Social Sushi won the opportunity to partner with Roosevelt Proxy (a group of Lawrence Tech University and Western International HS students) and together we're on a journey to design and build a restaurant out of shipping containers.

Our restaurant is a unique experience, serving a curated menu of sustainable sushi, Japanese beer and sake. We're developing a sustainable restaurant unlike any in the country, breathing new life into shipping containers from a local yard, working with local farmers for produce, and only using sustainably sourced seafood. We hope to help sustain our city and our seas through combining good food and good people starting right here in the City of Detroit.
